DAYTONA BECAH, Fla. – The 2009 season got off to an early start for the Embry-Riddle cheerleaders who attended a Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) Camp July 28-30. The camp was held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and had more than 20 collegiate cheerleading programs in attendance.
Now in the second season under the direction of head coach Peggy Pierce, the men and women comprising the Eagles’ squad learned stunting technique, safety awareness, and game planning skills, and went through evaluations before competing on the last day.
The Eagle cheerleaders fared well in the competition portion of the camp. They received three superior ribbons during evaluations and won the third place trophy in the sideline competition for the small coed division.
Ernie the Eagle was also in attendance at the camp and earned the New and Upcoming Mascot Award.
