LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's golf team overcame a three-stroke deficit after day-one to win the 6th Annual Start-2-Finish Sports & More Classic. The Eagles finished with a 639 (327-312) on the two-day, two-round event.
Carrie Rowe (80-79=159) and Grace Jeong (80-79=159) led the Eagles to the win, followed closely by Teresa Sandri (80-80=160).
Freshman Connie Pitenis (87-76=163) and Albane Flamant (94-78=172) rounded out the Eagle scorers.
Zala Pia Jenko and Bea Serra competed as individuals at the tournament and were both named to the All-Tournament Team. Jenko (78-75=143) and Serra (85-73=158) both played in their first event as an Eagle.
"We hung tough today," Coach Maria Lopez commented. "We're still getting our legs under us for the season, but we played well. Connie and Alabane had great comebacks today, and Bea had the comeback of the tournament."
Northwood (335-306=641), Thomas (329-318=647), USCB (324-326=650) and Seminole State (333-329=662) all finished in the top five.
The Blue and Gold have not lost at Lake Wales Country Club since 2004, a streak extending seven tournaments.
ERAU will compete in the Eagle Invitational on Mar. 13-14 in Daytona Beach.
