GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The No. 3 ranked Embry-Riddle men's cross country team finished second at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. Friday evening, with Freshman Evans Kirwa highlighting the meet by taking home a first place finish in an ERAU record time of 24:21.10.
Kirwa led the way for the Blue and Gold, as the Eagles combined for 70 total points and finished second overall out of 18 teams, mostly NCAA Division I. Sam Vazquez finished second among Eagles, placing 11th overall with a time of 25:38.9, adding 10 points to the Eagles' total. Russell Snyder followed close behind, crossing the finish line in 25:46.8, while Nick Gehlsen and Alex Fraizer rounded out the top-five Eagle finishers. Greg Leonard and Matt Adkins also scored points for the team, placing 45th and 71st, respectively.
The Eagles will head to Orlando, Fla. next weekend to compete in the Knight Invitational on the campus of University of Central Florida on Sat., Sept. 26.
