DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Five pitchers and the starting catcher for the Embry-Riddle Eagles baseball team are improving their game as well as aiding their collegiate summer baseball team's in four states across the United States.
Austin Goolsby, the Eagles' starting catcher, is tied for the team lead of two home runs in just 11 games played for the Coppell Copperheads (Texas). He was drafted as a 49th round pick by the San Francisco Giants in June and has eight of each hits and RBI as he returned to the field after having suffered a season ending injury at ERAU in May. Phillip Reamy had a late start in summer baseball but was recently picked up by the Luray Wranglers of the highly competitive Valley League in Virgina. In four relief appearances, Reamy has pitched four total innings, allowing two hits with two strikeouts. To follow Reamy CLICK HERE.
Both Justin Zinkovich and Austin Quinn are playing with the Florida Collegiate League leading DeLand Suns, posting a combined three wins. Quinn was recently selected to play in the FSCL's All-Star game, but the game was cancelled due to weather. He has a 2-1 record this summer with an impressive 17:1 strikeout to walk ratio. Tucker Jensen was also selected to New York Collegiate Summer League's All-Star roster, representing the Watertown Wizards. He threw a scoreless inning, striking out two of the batters he faced. Each summer league will wrap-up the regular season in the final week of July and begin post-season play in early August.
